Still Looking for a College for this Fall?

You did not get accepted into your college choice, or you decided late that you want to attend college. Don't worry, there are still options out there for you. According to the National Association of College Admission Counseling (NACAC), there are several colleges and universities that are still accepting applications from freshman and transfer students (some with financial aid and housing) for the upcoming Fall semester.

Your college search should focus on schools and enivironments where you will feel comfortable and will thrive. Look for that right fit school. If attending a four-year institution is not what you are looking for, you can look into opportunities at your local community college. Many states offer a 2 + 2 option where you attend a community college to get your associates degree, then move on to a four-year college to complete your bachelor’s degree. If you decide to take this path, it is important that you do your research to find out which colleges and universities honor the courses that you are taking, and the credits will count towards your degree at your four-year college of choice. That way you start off as a junior and save yourself time and money.

Some of the benefits of attending a Community college:

- Tuition at community colleges tends to be less than the tuition charged at four-year schools, so you can reap the financial benefit.

- Gaining access might be easier for students who are not eligible for immediate acceptance into a four-year college or university.

- Provides a student the opportunity to improve their transcript.

- Might be a good option for students who would prefer to live closer to home directly after graduating high school and cut down on living and travel expenses.

- Provides time to apply for scholarships and earn money to offset the cost of attending the four year school to complete the bachelor's degree.
